Newry City 2 - 2 Lisburn Distillery

A late John Curran strike ensured Lisburn Distillery stretched their unbeaten run to ten games with a draw away to Newry City who saw their recent winning streak end with this result at the Showgrounds.

Curran struck with seven minutes remaining to turn a volley past Neil Gallagher in goal after connecting with a Gary Browne free-kick.

Newry had moved in front on seven minutes when the industrious Gerard Rowe knocked a pass into the path of the impressive Stephen Garrett who lobbed the advancing 'keeper with confidence & aplomb.

And they doubled their advantage on 21 minutes after Garrett crossed for Niall Henderson to stoop to turn a header into the bottom corner from 12 yards.

The Whites almost pulled one back a short time later when Glenn Ferguson struck the woodwork - but the former Northern Ireland international had more luck on 32 minutes when his free-kick was deflected into the path of Gary Thompson to poke the ball past Neil Gallagher.

The visitors were dealt a blow on 58 minutes when Stuart Thompson was shown a straight red card for a foul on Garrett but the ten men recovered sufficiently to earn a share of the spoils thanks to Curran's late finish.

Newry manager Gerry Flynn blooded some of his younger players on the night, with Ruairi Devlin coming on and again displaying his potential, Andy Graham showing why he is always capable of getting goals at this level, and Paddy Mooney making his debut, settling in seamlessly at the back along Munster & McDonnell for an impressive debut for the club.
