Friendly Win Granted
Newry had a useful runout against Airtricity Premier League newboys Monaghan United in a friendly game on Tuesday evening at the Showgrounds. This was a more competitive affair than your average friendly and Newry did well to run out 2-1 winners. Marty Havern put Newry ahead before Jordan Keegan equalised for the visitors. With Pat McGibbon using his full squad in the second half, Timmy Grant won it for Newry with a goal on 81 minutes.
