Newry had a useful runout against Airtricity Premier League newboys Monaghan United in a friendly game on Tuesday evening at the Showgrounds. This was a more competitive affair than your average friendly and Newry did well to run out 2-1 winners. Marty Havern put Newry ahead before Jordan Keegan equalised for the visitors. Banbridge Town Reserves 0 Newry City Reserves 3It took both teams a while to settle on what was a tight pitch. The first real chance fell to Daniel Hughes who shot wide. Jemar Hall was starting to see a lot of the ball and was beating the left back at every opportunity. Unfortunately Newry were unable to get on the end of any of his crosses.
