Newry City FC Under 14 Girls reach Tesco Cup Final!

Newry City FC are proud to announce that our Under 14 girls have reached the final of the Tesco Cup, to be played this coming Saturday, the 17th of April 2010 @ Coagh United's grounds in County Tyrone.

Having won the Mid Ulster Cup last season this campaign has again proved fruitful for Manager Ann Ruddy & her charges, with the winner of the final on Saturday going on to represent Northern Ireland in further competition at Bolton Wanderers Reebok Stadium later in the season.

Ann herself has said "I'm delighted for the girls, nine out of this group of eighteen have been with me for over five years now, although we have been a part of Newry City for only two at this stage, their work and efforts are really paying off now for them and the club, and I'm just so happy for them as they are a great group of girls.

Their endeavour this season has been second to none and they are now reaping their just rewards, not only in this competition and the league, but by the recoginition of their talent some of the players have already received, for instance Moya (Feehan) is currently across with the Northern Ireland girls Under 15 side in Scotland, playing in the Bob Docherty Cup against England, Scotland, Wales & the Rep. of Ireland, and having scored yesterday (13th April) against England it just proves the talent we have available to us in the squad, and indeed the talent that is available locally in the greater Newry & Mourne region".

The game, as stated, kicks off this Saturday the 17th in Coagh @ 10.30am v Lisburn Ladies, and Ann and the girls I'm sure would appreciate all the extra support and encouragement they can get so if available please try and go and support our girls in their attempt to lift the cup for Newry City FC!

On behalf of everyone at the club we wish them the very best of luck and hope to see them return to Newry with the cup early evening Saturday.
